Mirel is marketed and sold through Telles™, a 50/50 joint venture between Metabolix and Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM). ADM has begun construction of the world’s first Mirel bioplastics resins plant in Clinton, Iowa. This new facility will produce 110 million pounds of Mirel per year with start up scheduled for late 2008. The new Telles business office is located at the Wannalancit Mill complex near the University of Massachusetts Lowell campus.

(NYSE: ADM), has released the findings of an independent life cycle assessment
(LCA) for Mirel™ bioplastic resin. The LCA study, conducted
by Dr. Bruce Dale, professor of Chemical Engineering at Michigan State University,
determined that production of Mirel reduces the use of nonrenewable energy
by more than 95% and provides a 200% reduction in greenhouse gases (GHG)
compared to production of conventional petroleum-based plastics.
